Everything Changes?

In other news, it looks like the release date for the Transformers Movie has been moved up again. Originally, it was supposed to be released on Independence Day (what with freedom being the right of all sentient beings, or something...), then the date was moved to July 3, and now the official site has July 2 posted.

While discussing the movie with HJ2, I expressed my displeasure at not hearing "More than meet the eye!" in any of the trailers. Sure, it'll probably be tossed out there at some point during the movie itself, but as HJ2 pointed out, it really needs to be a not-so-subtle wink to those of us who watched the cartoon as kids. That is, less a wink and more of a punch in the face, If there's any justice in the world, right after he sees Bumblebee transform, Shia LeBeouf will shout, "It's more than meets the eye!" While looking directly into the camera.

Yeah, complain all you want about breaking the wall, but you can't escape the fact that it's a movie about giant robots from outer space. We aren't talking art, here.

Membership Has Its Privileges

In case you were wondering what your $110 per year membership fee gets you, the USHJA has a handy list of benefits for your edification. I love that the newsletter is listed first. Because when I'm writing that check for my combined USEF and USHJA memberships, the first thing I think is, "Gee, I hope my money is spent on a graphics-heavy, content-light circular."

I've heard that, unlike in previous years, this year any non-member fees paid at a competition will no longer apply to an eventual membership. If so, they really ought to change that "for the good of the horse" slogan to "prepare to bend over and receive your destiny."
